Hike & Potluck Picnic Lunch Saturday, April 10 The trail to Parker Mesa Overlook has consistent views of the ocean, mountains and city all along the hike! The viewpoint where we'll have lunch is a great spot for a group picnic...wide and flat, with a great view of the ocean and city. The low-growing foliage along the hike should be relatively green in April. The hike is five miles round-trip, with moderate steepness during the first couple miles.
We'll share a potluck picnic for lunch. Will you please plan to bring one item to contribute? Doesn't have to be gourmet (though something more lunchy than chips or Oreos would be nice). I'll bring a few bottles of wine to share, as well as plates, cups, utensils and napkins. Bring water or whatever you want to drink on the hike. (Feel free to bring wine if you'd like, but not at all necessary.) The Paseo Miramar trailhead from which we'll begin the hike is just a 15-minute drive from Santa Monica. Please be there by 10:30 AM. The drive should take no more than an hour from the South Bay. Feel free to invite along any friends you'd like! Kids of all ages are welcome. For parents (and those whose gym memberships expired long ago), there are pretty viewpoints as little as a half-mile from the trailhead. Feel free to come and only do a portion of the hike, if you'd like. (The state park does not permit dogs on their trails.) Please RSVP so I can send you any last-minute changes in our plans. This hike combines great views with a short drive...I hope you can make it!
